Semester 2: Plan for Success
Goals, dreams, and aspirations. I believe in order to succeed, you need to be able to learn new thing to help you progress throughout your life. However in order to learn, you need to understand what you’re learning, and why you are learning it.
To be honest, I excel in the subjects which I enjoy and have a true interest in. Where as the classes which I do not enjoy as much, even though I try my best to motivate myself in that class, I still end up dozing off when the teacher is speaking. What separates subject I enjoy, and those that I don’t, is the fact that it interests me and intrigues me, perking my curiosity about the subject, making want to learn more. What I learned from this is that you can't force yourself to like something, and if you don't like it, then why would you spend your time learning it? So for me to be successful, I need to love what I’m doing.
Another important part of me I want to improve, is my lack of time management. I use to be good at schedule keeping when I was younger, but I don’t know what changed. I always believe I have more time than I actually do. This affects me in negative ways in multiple situations, like when needing to complete assignments (like rightnow for example, instead of working on all my assignments over a longer period of time, I decided it would be a good idea to do it all today) or when I need to leave the house, or make it to an appointment on time. Bad time management doesn't only affect me, but it also lessens the trust people have in me to be a reliable person whom they can trust.
Last characteristic I believe will help lead to success, is self belief. I usually never give myself the chance to excel my own expectations of myself because I’m to afraid to fail or be ridiculed. So I need to start giving myself opportunities to fail and learn from those failures. Because people learn the best from picking themselves up after noticing your mistakes, and being able to pick yourself up after falling makes you stronger and more resilient to future obstacles and difficulties. This is something I’ve learned so far in the past 15 years, that the more difficulties you face in life, if you're able to stand strong in the midst of it all, then you’ll come out a more knowledgeable, stronger, patient person.
By applying these characteristics to myself, so many aspects in my life, whether it be school, professional, or personal, I will be a more productive, successful person. Because I’m not changing anything about myself, but rather building my personality and character by noticing my weak points, and working on them, I will better improve my chances on being successful in the future.
