I somehow when writing the sentence down forgot to add 'the'. I again missed adjectives, which just shows more the ever-growing need for me to focus on those parts of speech. I missed a prepositional phrase, no! I love prepositional phrases because there usually easy to identify, but this time the preposition was 'like' and I didn't know 'like' was a preposition.

Today I learned about linking verbs and subject complements. I found it hard to identify linking verbs, but I think I will start to get use to them. I'm still pretty unclear of a few things, like if a subject complement is the preposition or something separate. I think that's something to find out next class.
#2
The sentence for this class was kind of hard because it had a gerund in it, which i'm not to familiar with. I find I get confused between the differences of a particle and gerund. Also the adjectives came back to haunt me! I really need to work on being able to identify adjectives, which this sentence had a few of.
#3
I had trouble trying to figure out if 'crossing' was a participle or gerund, these things are new to me and I think I need more practice in order to be able to tell the difference easily. Finding the subject complement was tricky in this one, but I was able to figure it out in the end by looking at the linking verb page on Mr. Pangiers website.
I learned more about participles and subject complement in this class.
#4
I got to have more practice with participles and linking verbs, and I learn best with practice and repetition. In this sentence however, I came across a 'but' which I became interested in and decided to learn more about. I didn't know the linking verb could be the predicate as well, so that's something new I learned this class.
#5
This sentence was difficult for me, because i thought the subject couldn't be more than one word. Also because finding the predicate was confusing, since there were so many things that appeared to me as they could be or sounded like a predicate. I was able to understand more clearly by the end of the codify session after the correct answer was shown.
