Analysis
For our group creation, we decided to do a “Let it go” parody. We needed to try and portray the meaning and themes behind the Epic of Gilgamesh through this song. We attempted to incorporate the themes of friendship, the inevitability of death, and the Gods into this parody.
In the first part of the song we first introduce the character and the scene briefly, then moved on to the friendship and growth of the two main characters. We tried adding some elements of poetry but found that quite challenging. In the end we weren't able to put as much information in the song as we originally hoped, but rather it ended up being pretty brief in its explanation of the Epic of Gilgamesh’ meanings and themes.
In the line “From wild to man, from tyrant to king.”, we tried to show the growth of the characters.
"We’ll face the unstoppable death. Even though, humans die, we a race will carry on.”, we tried to use this part to show the change of mindset of Gilgamesh at the end of the story. How his view on death, especially the death of his friend Enkidu, was at first something to fear and to avoid, by wanting to become immortal. However then at the end changed to accepting this fate, coming to the realization that death is not the end, because the rest of humankind still lives on, carrying with them the memories of those who have passed on. So Enkidu will live on through the memories of Gilgamesh.
